My Favorite Marketing Channels and Why They Work

There are a million different ways to market your business, but not all of them actually move the needle. Over the years I’ve figured out the channels that consistently help businesses get seen, build trust, and stay connected with the people they’re trying to reach. These are the ones I keep coming back to:

Social Media

Let’s start with the obvious one. Instagram and Facebook are two of the most powerful tools out there for small businesses. They give you a way to share your story, show up in real time, and connect with your audience in a way that feels personal.

Here’s what I love about them right now: Instagram and Facebook posts are showing up in Google search results. That means the content you’re already creating can give you even more visibility outside of just the app itself. Add that to the fact that people go to social media first when they want to “check out” a business, and it’s pretty clear this is a space worth putting energy into.

Email Marketing

If social media is the open house, email marketing is the one-on-one coffee date. When someone signs up for your list, they’re telling you they want to hear from you. That’s pure gold!

The beauty of email is that it lands right in someone’s inbox without an algorithm deciding whether they see it or not. It’s the most reliable way to keep your business top of mind. Whether it’s sharing updates, sending out a special offer, or simply popping in with something helpful, email is how you turn followers into real relationships.

Website + Blogs

Your website is the one place online that you own and control. Social media can be unpredictable, but your website is where you can lay everything out clearly and confidently so people know exactly what you do and how to work with you.

Pair that with a blog, and you’ve got a super effective combo. Blogs let you go deeper than a quick caption and give your audience real value while also helping you show up in search results. Every blog you publish is another little breadcrumb that helps people find you online.

Print Collateral

Even in our digital-first world, I still believe print has a place. A thoughtfully designed brochure, business card, or postcard has staying power. People can pin it to the fridge, tuck it in their bag, or hand it off to someone else. It’s simple, tangible, and personal in a way that digital can’t always match.

The Bottom Line

These are my favorite channels because they balance reach with real, genuine connection. Social media gets your name out there, email keeps the conversation going, your website and blog build authority, and print gives people something to hold onto. When you put them together, you’ve got a marketing mix that feels authentic and actually works 💪🏼
